Lower Wharfe Catchment
The Lower Wharfe operational catchment covers the area from Wetherby in the north, across to Tadcaster and down to Garforth in the south. Tributaries of the Wharfe in this catchment include Thorner Beck, Cock Beck, The Foss and Dorts Dyke. Significant water management issues include the effects of physical modifications e.g. weirs at Flint Mill, Tadcaster and Harewood as well as diffuse pollution from rural areas. There are no protected areas other than nitrate vulnerable zones (NVZ’s) in this operational catchment.
