Jack Hirst

Jack joined the Trust on the 11th of September 2017 after completing a BSc & MSc degree in Conservation and Biodiversity at the University of Exeter.  Jack was raised on a farm in Littondale and is a product of the culture of the Yorkshire Dales, playing cricket for the local teams in Littondale and also playing rugby for Wharfedale RUFC through all age groups and for all senior teams.

Whilst at the trust Jack has undertaken a range of roles including managing the volunteer groups, covering the social media and editing the website (hi yes this is me). Jack has also worked on a range of projects, mainly the Wharfe SSSI Restoration Project and the Bishopdale Natural Flood Management (NFM) Project as well as having smaller roles in the NFM works funded by Postcode Lottery and helping to run the Countryside Stewardship Flood Facilitation Fund in Upper Wharfedale. Away from direct project work, Jack represents the trust on the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Biodiversity Forum and has attended a course around the successful management and introductions of beavers (Castor fiber) in Bavaria.
