How We Are Run

The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust is a charity, founded in 2004. The Trust is run by a group of Trustees who are elected by members and are answerable to the Charity Commissioners for ensuring the our funds are used wisely and in accordance with out objectives. Day to day management of the Trust is delegated to a small Working Group which includes the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Members of Staff. The Trust Articles and Memorandum of Association are the two fundamental documents which determine how we are governed.

All that we achieve depends on people – our members; people who give us donations; our staff and our volunteers who provide invaluable help with our river improvement projects.

Many of the practical improvement projects we have delivered have been supported by statutory organisations including the Environment Agency and Natural England. Their financial help and advice has been invaluable. We have also received grants from the National Park Authority and landfill tax communities funds.

For the Trust to continue to be successful in improving our rivers we need to increase our income. The more funds and support we secure the more we can achieve for everybody who enjoys our rivers. The scale of our success will depend on the continuing generosity of our supporters including our volunteers, partners, grant making bodies, charitable Trusts and of course our members.
